John Sidney McCain lll is the senior (Republican) U.S. Senator from Arizona.

PersonalityEdit

When John McCain is mentioned, the words 'courageous,' 'kind,' 'caring,' and 'patriotic' all come to mind. Even liberals can not deny that he is a war hero who loves our country more than anything. For that matter, he seems to have a deep interest in our ally, Israel, as well.

HistoryEdit

John McCain was born on August 29, 1936 in Coco Solo, a U.S. Naval Base in the Panama Canal Area. That this constitutionally disqualified him from serving as President was a point clearly lost on many Birthers.

Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, McCain was admitted to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, but he was very disobedient and ranked 849th of 899 in his graduating class.

McCain is a former Prisoner of War, as well as a veteran of the Vietnam War. Tragically, he was injured in action. During a October 26, 1967 bombing run, his Skyhawk was shot down by a SA-2 surface to air missile. That was his 23rd bombing mission and he ejected from the plane before almost drowning in a lake. Rescued by the Vietnamese, he was interned in Hoa La Prison. McCain was treated in a hospital for six weeks before they took him to another prison. The two other Americans in his new cell didn't think he would survive for a week.

1968 was when his torture began to start. They beat him several times a day while he also suffered from dysentery. He almost committed suicide to end the torture, but was stopped by the guards. For several more years, he remained a POW. In 1973, he was released and sent back to America. He can no longer lift his arms above his head because of post-war and post-imprisonment injuries.

He married his second wife, Cindy Lou Hensley in 1979. Her family wealth made it possible for Mccain to become a career politician in 1982.

PoliticsEdit

He was the GOP candidate for the 2008 Presidential election. He ran against but lost to Democratic U.S. Senator from Illinois Barrack Obama. That McCain's VP running mate was Sarah Palin cost him votes among moderates.
